Early this week, Instagram rolled out a brand new free app and creative tool that is sure to be a hit for users and businesses.
The app, called Layout, gives users the ability to create collages by selecting photos from their camera roll without the need to resort to third-party software as they have in the past. In the same vein as Instagram’s Hyperlapse app which was released last year to help users create timelapse creations, Layout is the latest effort to add popular functionality.
As reported by TechCrunch, collages are an enormously popular form of content used by an estimated 1 in 5 monthly active Instagram users. Layout also gives brands the opportunity to interact with their audience more easily than ever – it is very simple to use, presenting the user with a selection of custom layouts to choose from using photos from the camera roll. While creating the collage, photos can be dragged and dropped intuitively and pinched or pulled to adjust size. Once completed, the collage can be quickly and easily posted to Instagram.
For now, Layout is available exclusively in iOS devices, however an Android version is said to be released sometime in the near future.
